✨ 🌳 The magical power of Rommersum 🌳✨
Hof van 't Rommersum, our silence farm, is located in the picturesque hamlet of Helen, part of Helen-Bos and a sub-municipality of Zoutleeuw. Here, amidst the soothing nature, lies a magical place where people and horses can be themselves in all serenity, rest, learn, and stay overnight. The land was historically called Rommersum, hence our name.
🌱 Helen-Bos owes its name to the healing power of the shrubs that once grew on this ground. There used to be no forests in Helen, and the place was called Bos. In Helen, there were only shrubs. But the shrubs that grew here had very medicinal properties, and thus the name Helen (which means 'to heal') was born.
✨ Our silence farm has a new resident: a tiny young oak tree. It is still very small but will grow tall and strong, the mightiest tree there is. The oak symbolizes vitality, wisdom, and safety. It is precisely what brings people and horses together here.
Quercus robur is the Latin name of the oak, but when there are varieties, a surname is added. We gave this new life an extra name: arbusculo sano. 'Arbusculo' means shrub in Latin and 'sano' means healthy, thus referring to our rich past of medicinal plants, a magic that is still palpable on our estate.

🐴✨ At Hof van 't Rommersum, we feel the power that emanates from this place every day. Both horses and people heal here from mental pain. 'Mens sana in corpore sano' or a healthy mind in a healthy body. This philosophy is reflected in all our activities, from horse boarding and equine coaching to farm tourism and retreats. Our guests experience the quiet serenity and intense beauty that contribute to a deep sense of well-being and healing.
